BMW X5M Engine Swap S63B44 to S63B44TXX
Just purchased an X5M with rod knock - looking for some advise on if the current S63 Engine can be swapped with an updated S63 engine ( S63B44T0, S63B44T2 or S63B44T4) Can I update the engine to one of the other S63 engine with updated technicals? How difficult and what is involved. Alternatively if it is too involve I may need to just rebuild this S63B44 Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'm not sure you can flash the DME to the newer model. Often a complete engine will come with the matching DME/key/ews
How sure are you about rod knock; had a buddy that thought his m62 had horrible rod knock for a couple months until he discovered one of the spark plugs was loose!

Does the S63 produce motor oil smell? Mine smell of cooked motor oil when I shut off engine. Doesn’t consume excessive oil. I replenished a quart of 5w30 synthetic after 6 months.

S63 sure requires a lot more work compared to the M62.
