Anybody have any luck with aftermarket Valvetronic actuators
Had the dreaded 2DCE and 2EOF codes pop up with a CEL on the E70 (n55 powered) yesterday. Gonna replace the actuator. The OE replacement would have been VDO / Continental, but that’s now discontinued. I sure do love original equipment, but I’m hesitant to drop $500 on the BMW branded part if a $200 part performs well.
The only decent looking options are Bav Auto and Vemo. Anybody here used either of those with success? |

I'm in the same boat and i found one i liked for ≈ 200$ but o apparently didn't bookmark it!
It will be a day of downtime and doing my own labor. I changed the head cover not long ago. After watching the YouTube videos and determining 6/10 difficulty i decided to save $200 on the part. It will be about 90 extra minutes to change the Valvetronic motor v the head cover but it'll just be one day out of service for the car. I usually do this sort of job in two shifts with a break over night so i can finish strong. Any chance you're near the Midwest we could tag team on a pair. Always easier as a team. Oh; the main reason I'm ok with finding the best copy cat option is the car had been driving ok in backup throttle plate mode (other than cold starts which I'm sure you're aware!)

This is pretty frustrating because I just changed the valve cover gaskets 6 months ago when I replaced the engine. Ahh well the price we pay for owning a BMW. My biggest concern is getting the injectors out. Heard some pretty crazy horror stories about that. But I’ll get the correct tool and take it slow. Regrettably I’m on the east coast so no possibility of tag teaming ![]() Incidentally were you getting any clicks or grinding noises when you’d unlock the vehicle before yours failed? I was just getting one distinct “clock!!” sound since the engine has been in the vehicle so I had assumed it was normal. Cheers! |

Mine is electrical failure so it just shut off. The error days something about too frequent adjustment.

I found some oem new on eBay. If you zoom in on the photos you can find either German or Taiwan made that's the route I'll be taking.
