So my X5 E70 35D M57N2 did a countdown on me a few years back and I decided to have the SCR (DEF system) taken out and remapped the ECU. After that I also decided on taking out the EGR, High Pressure EGR Cooler (the one in between the auxiliary fan and the engine). Got all the delete parts from Bimmertune.
I'm now in the process of replacing my DPF with a single DOWNPIPE. On another forum the OP recommends removing the Low Pressure EGR Cooler attached to the DPF. My question is, if I decide to retain the old original DPF and just modify it (take out the filament obstructions inside making it a free flowing DPF) and reinstall it without removing the LP-EGR cooler attached to it, is there any negative effect to that?
I'm assuming it wouldn't hurt the turbos since soot is just recirculating? Is unfiltered soot recirculated back to pre-turbo harmless? Or recirculating soot back to pre-turbo compressor is really bad? What can happen?
