Parking brake

2012 X5 5.0i, parking brake sticks on, must open side panel in cargo area and pull loop cable, has happen twice. What gives?

Common failure, unfortunately the part is all combined has to be replaced and it's not cheap i would see if you can get a low mileage parking brake motor from a salvage yard

Looks like you can get knock off for a bit over $100 on eBay. Might be some used ones oe similar price.

It's not mission critical as you can manually release if it gets stuck so i would personally be ok with 3rd party
