Some kind of red tape thingy to hide the curve in glass on sides. To absorb the new length of X5 the d-pillar is bigger and the rear glass is curvy on sides. That's my guess.

Are these 2 separate X5's in the pix? One has a black gas cap lid, the other doesn't.

I also noticed that. They have to be separate X5s.

Definitely different, the blackout around the taillight differs as well. One touches the bumper, one does not.
