BMW Rep Says E70 Spy Shots "Dead Wrong"

Dealer sales manager said that BMW has mules in Miami and that the factory rep mentioned that all the spy shots floating around are nothing like what the final product is going to look like. Rep only confirmed that the E70 will be longer, wider, and taller...just thought I would pass this on.

Do you really trust that your dealer knows anything about the E70; better yet anything about BMW's at all? Some sales people are the dumbest people around... With no knowledge of the product that are pressuring to sell. The only thing they really know is the "are you going to buy today" question. I really don't want to get started on ignorant sales people. I would have so much to say.

This info was coming from a BMW N.A. person...and I think it is safe to assume that a company spending untold millions on a launch would control and orchestrate the reveal--just because we see something on Auto Bild does not make it accurate....

interestingly enough, I was in the dealer's looking at an exact 2006 copy of my 2004...the dealer actually suggested that since I own outright my 2004 and there is no support for the 2006 models, rather than do a lease, wait 12 months--I will still have a car under warranty to trade or sell, will have saved $9-10K in lease payments, and after 9 months' production, can consider a 2007 E70 after actually having seen the real thing.

What did you mean when you said there is no support for the 2006 X5.

U R talkin' to me?

If I understand your question, no. This thread stems from what a BMW N.A. area rep in Florida passed along, thus the reference to Miami; Miami being in Florida I made the connection almost immediately.

I would have to guess that the mules in other parts of the country are very much BMW products...it is unlikely they are Skodas.

No. The What it means is that the photos floating around either show test mules with styling that is not meant for production or photoshops that bear little respemblance to the production models.

No lease incentives--apparently (and this could be complete BS) they don't have an inventory problem as far as E53s are concerned. Dealer told me lease deals were actually better last year.

It's now official. Your dealer is a MORON. I'm also curious what you mean by no support for 2006 X5's. Can't quite wrap my brain around that one.
