Some info on E70 you may want to know.
I have compiled some info on E70 form the net...comments by those who have seen it in person.....not my comments......I just put together in logical presentable way. Officail pics will be out next month. Some of it you may have already read so don't flame me.
About the spy pics: 1. There are prominent sharp edges missing on the front flanks (right & left) beside the hood cut line. The edges leading from A-pillar to the turn-indicator in a headlight cluster. 2. Two inner creases are missing on the central part of the hood - parallel to the existing ones which ends in the upper outer kidney corners; these inner ones ending in the middle upper edge of the kidneys 3. headlights are a bit different in shape - some angles are a bit different (outer part is not so sharp, but more rounded), yet the real ones look much more aggressive 4. there are some little details missing in the headlight cover glass - e.g. in the inner parts beside the grille there should be glass pushed in, creating an edge / crease in the glass - looking like the hood cut continuing in the glass; and a crease which is an prolonged flank edge - leading from A-pillar & ending in the glass. 5. I'm not sure lower parts of a bumper and a lower part of side mirrors will be gray - I saw only black ones till now. But there will be an option to get all black parts in body-color. About the lights: All upcoming BMW cars would come with a new CELIS LED features - something regarding daytime lights and blinkers E70's daytime light feature will be similar to the E92 feature = stronger "angel eye". The blinker thing on E70: (CELIS) LED blinkers. Imagine a CELIS tube in blinker LEDs: I'm more sure (but not 100%) rear blinkers will get CELIS LED tech (optical fiber strip). Headlights could get some LEDs for side positioners (like e.g. LEDs in E60 eyebrows). I'll try to find out some more. About the third row: Two additional provisional folding seats in E70 to accommodate kids not adults (remember at BMW its not about people mover but about mobile communication statement) Promo shooting in New Zealand, South Africa, Iceland and UK (Scotland) is over. About the overall looks: The overall stance is much more aggressive & sporty. And while the E53 looks bulky / bloated / chubby, the E70 looks sleeker but still very beefy. Flame surfacing is excessively used. E70 side profile looks very much like RR Sport or Porsche Cayenne - the stance, not the design details. The profile is much more horizontal than the one of E53. Therefore E70 looks longer, sleeker & lower. All due to sharp & long & not diagonal shoulder line, lower sharp crease in the doors, narrower green house, and less sloppy nose. The rear of E70 looks much more powerful and lower than actually is. White strip (reverse light + turn signals) in all-red rear light clusters & the CELIS LED position light strips make the rear look even wider & lower. Also the red reflectors in the lower part of the bumper enhance the powerful look - just like on the E60 rear. Front looks very "p!ssed off" - very "move out of my way". Very sporty, very aggressive. And very crispy - a lot of sharp edges & cuts. In front bumper, hood & headlight clusters. CELIS LED rings (featuring daytime light just like E92), sharp edges, creases, cuts & brushed parts in covering cluster glass make the headlights sooooo aggressive. Due to bumper, grille & headlight design the front fascia looks lower than it really is. All these spy pics do not show the stance & the details right. The appearance is very skewed in the spy pics, and do the E70 no justice. Just wait till the tapes fall off. And when all the tape is removed from E70 will see another BMW that polarizes: for some too evolutionary, for some too "Bangleized". Btw, putting E70 beside E53 makes the current E53 X5 very dated & awkward, although the similarities in shape / design are obvious. But the skin restyling has made a huge impact. |
