I agree. When I ordered my E60 I was tired of gray interiors (had them on 3 BMW's in the past 12 years), I hated black, and the E60 beige was not that great. So I ended up ordering the Auburn (which is very similar to Tobacco), but there was no way I was going to get the brown Poplar wood. I ended up getting the Anthracite Maple black wood because BMW NA would not let me order the brushed aluminum. Since then I have changed the trims myself to the ALU Shadow brushed aluminum. Aluminum looks great with the Auburn/Black two tone interior, so it should look good with the E70's Tobacco/Black interior too. If we can't get Aluminumn then I would rather have the Graphite trim than the wood trims.

Hey that E60 mod sounds cool, gotta pic to post? Is the Shadow brushed aluminum darker than the regular brushed aluminum? Plus, I'd like to see what the contrast is for the Tobacco and Aluminum.

Yeah your right. Where's the driver side door pull?? Strange. I was thinking of looking at something different in a few years but if this is truly an accurate represantation of the product then it's gonna be hard for me to resist. OOps I forgot to add that if they offer a Diesel it's a done deal.

I'd say done away with in order to better access mirror and window controls. Just a guess.

Could be. Is it my imagination or does the front windshield look larger.

As note before, the driver side door pull is gone for better access to the power window switches, but there is a place to grab the door on the left door driver's arm rest....Just look at the current E90 3-series sedan....they did the same thing.

I don't have any pictures yet, but I will post some when I do.

The ALU Shadow on the E60 has two differences when compared to the regular ALU Feinschliff. One difference is that the Shadow's grain lines are slightly more coase grain vs. the Feinscliff's fine grain. The other difference is that the Shadow has a very slight grayish tint to it vs the Feinschliff's regular silver tint. The difference is so minimal that I was able to use Feinschliff for the vertical panel under the climate controls while the rest of the trim is Shadow. Shadow was not available for that panel as in the M5 (where the Shadow is used) that panel is black or gray leather instead. The good thing is since that panel is at a vertical angle while the others around it are horizontal the slight color difference is not noticed because light hits the two surfaces differently.

My '04 Audi S4 was the same way...the drivers side armrest was flat and the passenger side had a little kickup with a pull handle.

I agree, and you know what I just noticed? There isn't a grab handle on the drivers side door, thus making it easier to use the window switches

EDIT: LOL, I just read the other posts where this was already noted
