Cool video. Only thing I didn't like about it was the Happy Face steering wheel. Kinda made me giggle. The rear DVD is very cool though.

i also saw some very impressive off road footage of the X5, on youtube i believe. the new x-drive has made a believer out of me with respect to the new X5's all weather/all-road capabilities. very convincing snow/water/sand/rugged trail footage. still struck me as something of a sacrilege to treat such a upscale looking car that way. it's odd, as much as i like the E70 i continue to view it as too "prissy" for anything outside of valet parking. like taking a supermodel to a pig-pickin.

it was you tube i saw the vids on. here is my supermodel getting her shoes muddy.....don't believe these are repost.

Nice video, but I have to say, it disappointed me a bit. Why is it that the transmission takes so long to shift after moving the lever? I thought it was supposed to be quicker in the new X? Is this delay introduced purposely for some sort of a safety reason or is it the best they can do? The M cars with paddle shifters don't take this long, do they? Isn't the new M5 shift speed adjustable?

Yeah, but this is still a slushbox - it will never shift as fast as the M's. FWIW, I've never understood the slush-shifter. Worst of both worlds, imo; though I know some like it.

I don't dislike it at all; I just wish it shifted faster. But I can see your point - If I could have had the V8 with a manual tranny, I would have gone that route...

The delay does seem unnecessarily long, and is probably the reason I've never used it enough to get used to it. I don't know what the 4.4 is like, but the 3.0 ratios are so low that sifting in town is impractical when you've got a 1-2 second delay in the tranny's reaction. On the highway, I have used it for a faster downshift, but the truth is that getting the 3.0 to accelerate at highway speeds is like whipping a lame donkey anyway, no matter what gear you're in.
