Garmin Vent Mount - Super Slick!

Hi,

I just got this vent mount and figured I would post a positive review. I have nothing to do with the company that makes or sells. For 6 bucks its a bargain. Mounted it on the passenger side - center vent. It works as advertised. I brought the power cable out from the armrest and its a pretty neat and tidy installation. Beats the windshield mount by a wide margin. So far no issues with the satellites being hidden.

I have the friction mount. This air-vent idea sounds good until someone bumps the unit and breaks the fragile plastic moving parts.

Here is what the vent mount looks like. I forgot to plug in the power cord. Its still looks pretty clean with it plugged in. I ran the cord out from the split in the center arm rest. Goes right into the back of the Nuvi without a bunch of wire hanging about. I fixed a small piece of double sided tape to the lower leg to keep the mount from sliding back and forth. Takes less than a minute to install.

This is the Proclip mount for the X5. I use it with aTomTom 920T. I chose it because it mounts to the dash (friction/small piece of tape) and not the weak vents. Had it for almost two years with no problems. A GPS brand specific mount attaches to this clip and you can get them with power cables already attached. See proclipusa.com and choose your X5's year.
