Thumbs down Third Row Photos!

Hey guys, I'm in Detroit at the NAIAS industry preview show. I took a bunch of photos so y'all can see the third row "in action." So, without further adeux, here we go!

Photo 1 - View from the rear door
Photo 2 - Me sitting in the third row
Photo 3 - View from the third row of the second row seat all the way forward
Photo 4 - Detail of the cupholders and air-vents of the third row
Photo 5 - View from the top of the third row
Photo 6 - My ugly shoe to show you guys how little room there actually is back there! LOL! I wear 9 1/2 and the shoe wouldn't fit in the space between the seats!
Photo 7 - Detail of the dark bamboo on the rear door (nothing to do with the third row, but I couldn't resist. It's so beautiful...)
Photo 8 - Cargo area with third row up
Photo 9 - My ugly shoe again to illustrate how much room there is back there.

So, here's my humble and very opinionated conclusion. The third row IS A JOKE! B ut, y'all already new that.

Jose

The more I thought of the third row, the more I knew I couldn't do that to my boys right now. If you truly need a third row, this probably aint gonna cut it.

IMO that is the dumbest move BMW has made in a while. I agree with all the above posts. Anyone looking for the extra space isn't looking at the X5. BMW should have stuck with the girl they brought and not tried to accommodate the entire SUV market. Pretty soon they will probably offer an "off-road" package.

I hope this delve into the market isn't something that continues for BMW. Thanks Josejb70, you just made me feel that much better about purchasing the 100K warranty/maintenance on the E53.

Oh, BTW, it looks ENTIRELY plastic in the back.

BMW seems to have answered a question that no one asked. I put the third row option right up there with the silly mpg gauge that BMW has insisted on keeping in the speedo cluster since 1983.

Yes why do they do that? That is completely ridiculous.
