E70 Transmission Fault Error

Hey there Guys:

I've had my E70 X5 for 5 days now, and when driving to the office today I noticed a large error message in the center of the dash saying "Transmission Fault Error"

I'm also having several iDrive and electronic gltches such as the time and date is set one minute and gone the next. Unlocking the doors chirp for a day, and disappear next. Etc. Etc.

Has anyone else seen these issues? I'm really concerned with the Tranny error!!

Thanks

Uhoh. Sounds like problems which cropped up with early E60's.

If I were you, i'd start noting the problems. (What happened, how often). Get your dealer to try and fix it. And then keep track of the service records...

I'm hoping your E70 isn't a lemon, but if it is, careful paperwork would make the whole process a lot simpler.

Although the mechanical parts themselves might be just fine, it has been documented how bad computers can destroy perfectly good mechanical parts (i.e. transmissions). So, I'd take it to the shop. A tranny error is pretty serious.

Perhaps you could get your CCC or ECU replaced. Although I think the dealer would take that as a last resort measure.

Anywho, hope you have a good relationship with your service advisor ! & keep us posted...

Hope this is only a minor issue which can be fixed by an updated computer software. Definitely get your service guy to look at it. Please keep us posted.

sounds like a software issue rather than anything mechanical. I wouldn't think it will take BMW long to sort our these types of problems.
