I purchased the extended warranty and maintenance. Well worth the charge, take this into consideration....a brake job on the X5 costs $1200 from the dealer......and that is just the brakes.

It's the ole pay me now or pay me later syndrome. I'm saving my money and will be getting it.

Look at it this way getting the insurance may mean relief from russian roulette. You know it's gonna break so you either bank the money you think you will need, get the insurance now, or mortgage the house.

IS that covered by the extended warranty?

Works out to 1100.00 a year for warranty. If it's like the CPO it will not cover your C/V boots or axles or brakes or any rattles or squeeks inside.

I dont see how BMW can claim C/V axles are not part of the drive train.

I'm a little leery of extended warranties, as they are usually NOT treated as the initial warranty, but meant for big ticket expenses only. Make sure whoever sells you the warranty details out what is covered.
