Is Auto Tailgate ready to order?

Hi
I am waiting to order my X5 with auto tailgate option. My dealer mentioned that they still cannot take orders with auto tailgate option. Does anybody know when BMW (USA) starts taking orders with auto tailgate option?

Thanks for any hint or answer.

Guru

The brochure said the Spring.

Interestingly the latest ETK shows the current rear view camera is applicable until 3/07. I can only assume then that a new rear view camera will be produced to follow-it. Maybe it has something to do with the auto tailgate?

hopefully it will be a better camera. The current one sucks...at night it is worthless. The Lexus camera is far superior.

That's too bad about the quality of the camera. I was actually hoping it would be able to be installed into the E53 X5's, but the sheer size of it (much less the electronics) prevent that from ever happening.

The white reverse lights don't sufficiently illuminate the rear for the camera to see well?

no, if you are in an unlit area, it is black...even during the day it is marginal at best, lots of grain and interference.

That's amazing. I would have thought with this major update (E70) they would have really focused on this technology, especially since it seems to be one of their most advertised features on this car.
