Navi

please say it aint so...
...can it be that we are not able to enter a POI by name??

If so this is a serious oversight. Am I missing something? I cant find any way to search POI's other than those that are "nearest" my location by category. Every other Navi I have used allows search by name, for example "Hilton" and it will bring up every Hilton Hotel nearby.

There is no Search feature in the MOST NAV systems (in the new E90, E60/E61, E64/63, etc.) I believe the new E70 is MOST based now.

I hope this is updated. I find it really annoying. It makes searching for a store almost impossible.

BMW nav system has ALWAYS sucked compared to the competition. even the handheld garmin units, which cost $500 are better in terms of user interface and input options. of course, the car integration is nicer, but the system just is terrible compared to lexus, acura, etc.

BMW loses a lot of respect in my eyes for these types of things....

I am very dissapointed in the Nav. I asked my local dealer to demo the Nav several times and they never had one available to demo. I finally ended up buying the X5 over the phone from a dealer 700 miles away so I never saw it prior to receiving the X5 (BTW, this is my first BMW)...what a letdown!

unfortunatley, I use the Navi at least 3x a week.

Maybe they want you to pay $199 for the expanded BMW Assist. I see it allows you to push the SOS button for directions, then they download the data to your GPS.
