Pdc/camera

Interesting question from another forum:

I am trying to figure out if the camera cancels out the PDC function especially for the front. I am trying to park the car headfirst against the garage, I am expecting to hear the PDC beeping (I turned it on and the camera came on). I drive forward close to the wall, no beeping. The rear facing camera takes up the whole screen as set in the menu.

I go to settings and change to PDC in main screen. PDC screen comes on and beeping starts with the yellow/red zones flashing in the front of the car as it should. I switch back to camera mode, no beeping, ON THE FRONT..

Is there a way to get both functions to work at the same time? I can only get either the camera full screen, main screen or PDC main screen only. Nothing to allow for both.

Shouldnt the front PDC be working even though the rear view camera comes on?

Yes it should, but it does not. Here is my reply in the other forum:

Yes, thats how it works. I agree, this would be significantly more usefull if both functions worked at the same time. Did BMW expect us to go into the IDrive everytime we switch from REV to DRIVE?? Looks like it....just another example of offering great technology but not quite getting it.

Hopefully we will get an update to fix this, but I wont count on it.
