Adaptive lights

I noticed the other night when pulling into the garage that the lights only move to the right when I turn the wheel and nothing when turned left. Is this the case with anyone else here? I thought they were supposed to move left and right with the steering input?

Yea thats right. It has something to do with preventing glare to drivers of other vehicles.

only right when stationary.
(think left turn lane and blinding the oncoming traffic when you're waiting)

It does move left - but it is limited based on the prior notes - there is actually a formula based on how far the headlights are above the road surface. The turning lights, both right and left (part of fog light) behave the same each way due to the close proximity to the road surface.

Yup. At a standstill, the adaptive only swivels right. When you're moving, it goes left/right, how far is based on calculations.

You'd also notice that the adaptive function is disabled in Reverse.

The "calculations" are a lot of them. I think I remember reading that there are like 5 or so sensors that detirmine the vehicle's path and adjusts the headlights accordingly. I find that after a turn, like when turning at a intersecion, the headlights are very slooooow at going back to the road ahead. It bugs me. It also sometimes over calculates how much I am turning, becuase sometimes the headlights are pointing too far into a turn, like in somebody's front yard. But I usually like it and it's better than the non-adaptive lights.

In reverse I notice for some odd reason which is beyond me, the foglights go on.
