TBone, I'd agree with Wagner, it is porbably 20% if not less. I was surprised cause it is not a cheapish option and the factory tinting was not easily seen (I took delivery in the evening, and have been driving only early or late in the day), so only saw it 5 days later. I have had 35% tint placed on front/back/including the trunk. I`ll post some pics soon.

Enjoy your ride.

New X5 black on black with no tint on my Black on Black X5. Is 35% or 50% the right number. Whick looks better ? I want to tint rear windows and back and front. I want the best tint with no problems. Thanks

i've been examining the factory rear climate tint on a few X5s on the lot and it really doesn't look that dark.. it can't be more than %35 (or even higher) it's really not dark enough...

i almost had to ask if it had tint!!

maybe it's a special "NY thing"... they're really tough here with the tint laws!!

This is what my tint guy told me: If you notice closely the untinted windows you will see that it has a very light green tinge. So when that glass tinge combines with tint film it gives a different color than plain tint film by itself.
Madico charcool 35% tint film closely matches the factory tint.

Thanks, Is Madico charcool 35% tint film the correct tint that would look great on a Jet Black exterior and Black Interior X5 ? Thanks again

I added 35% on the front (NC max tint) and it is not quite as dark as the factory tint. The OEM rear tint on mine must be 20% or less.

Yes I am talking abour the rear climate pkg. I don't know if it is exactly 20%, but any tint shop can put a light meter on it and tell you and give you an exact measurement.

Let me add that I installed 35% 3M tint on the front windows and it could look different that other types of 35% tint such as what Lemans mentioned.

Also, I have black interior so the tint on the rear windows and hatch seems very dark since you can't see the black seats through the tint.
