Let me add that I installed 35% 3M tint on the front windows and it could look different that other types of 35% tint such as what Lemans mentioned.

Also, I have black interior so the tint on the rear windows and hatch seems very dark since you can't see the black seats through the tint.
Thanks, I don't mean to keep pounding this to death but here' my situation. My X5 black on black does NOT have rear climate package. All 5 windows have the exact same tint from the factory. If i tint all 5 windows 2 fronts , 2 rears and back 35% charcool tint will it look as good as the rear climate package? Thanks

Just one opinion... it may not be quite as dark as the factory rear climate tint, but since you have black interior it will be close. On mine, you can tell the rears are darker. On your X5, all windows will be the same... I think you will like it. Go for it.

This may have to do with light coming thru the front windshield which would make the driver and front passenger side tints appear lighter. I have 20% tints on an Audi sedan with beige interior and when I saw the factory tint on the X5 in a light interior I could tell the tint was definitely lighter than my 20s. The dealer told me its around 30%, I believe it. 35% is possible, but not 20.

Also... you could just get all yours windows redone so it matches perfectly. 20% is a great tint. In NJ most places offer 5%, 20% or 35%. Friends have told me that 5% is difficult to see out of at nighttime. 35% is kinda light for me, but because I'm getting older and NJ tint laws say no drivers row tints, I personally would go with at least 35% in future cars if any tints at all. To have them here I think is kind of pretentious (they are illegal so who are you to do it??) but great for blocking out the sun and everybody loves privacy.

If you don't have the rear climate package, none of the windows have privacy glass at all.

As for the tint percentage, I find 35% too light. Also you might want to check what your state laws says about tinting the front passenger windows. Here in California we are not allowed to tint the fronts, but they are pretty relax on it. As long as it is not too dark.
