Awaiting Transport to Port of Exit ??

I ordered a Space Grey 3.0 with Premium, Cold, Technology and Back Seat Heat back on February 23rd.

Last Thursday (3/22) the X5 was assembled as Friday morning the status via the 800 number changed to "in the paint shop" to "awaiting transport". On Saturday morning the status changed to "Released to Carrier - Awaiting Transport to Port of Exit".

What does that mean? Since the vehicle is not leaving the country...where are they going to send it next? I am in Connecticut....about how long should it take to move it from South Carolina to my dealer?

Can't wait....

Thanks !

The purpose of my post was not to say it takes too long.

Actually, BMW appears to be ahead of schedule. I was told 6 weeks when I ordered, which I consider to be a fair timeframe to get just what I want. Right now, it has been 4 weeks and the x5 has been built.

One of the downsides of the 800 number and the website is you can follow along with the assembly. I think this makes you more anxious than less.

On a further note, the website today "jumped" from "Scheduled for Production" to "At Prep Center" while the phone still says "Awaiting Transport to Port of Exit"....

The website has been behind through the whole process. The 800 number is a much better source of information.

Hi All,

What is the BMW's web site to know the status of an E70 order?

Thanks

It won't work for you my friend, it only caters for the American market.

I was told by the rep at the 800 number that the recording says "port of exit" as a generic term for ALL BMW's so for those of us expecting X5s in the states, it means it's aboard a truck or train on it's way to your dealer... My dealer however says it's being trucked to Oxnard first which is a port (makes no sense to me...)
