Sirius in Canada

I'd like to get the Sirius module, but I'm told by my dealer that the car will need a software update after installing it, in order to use it. They also tell me the version of the software they have doesn't support it.

I'm happy to buy the module in the US, but I need to get it installed here. Does anyone know if it can be done?

PS. BMW says the module won't be available until 2008 for Canada

Did the dealer tell you this, if so I would contact BMW directly and ask them. If you install unauthorized software you might void your warranty, just something to think about.

They're full of crap! There's no difference between the U.S. Sirius module and the Canadian one.

I ordered a Sirius module for my E53 from the U.S. years ago, and it works fine to this day. I didn't have to do any software updates or anything. Not sure about the E70 but at the most, the dealer may have to 'code' the vehicle so that the main computer sees the newly installed module, that's it. I'm sure you can install it yourself. If not, call another dealer in your area. Someone who knows what they're talking about...

I talked to the Sirius rep at the Auto show and he told me the module was the same for USA and Canada. Just the subscription was different for Canada.
