Should I be worried... delays already...?

So I just called the 800# for the first time (800-831-1117, is that the right number you all use?), and was told my order "has been accepted, but no official production date has been set."

Now, my dealer told me I'm in the April production, and it should "flip" the first or second week of April. Anyone know if the fact that they have no production date set means anything as far as my X5 being produced in April? Should I be expecting delays already...?

Thanks!

I would just give them a little time. I just took delivery of my new X5 yesterday. It was 5.5 weeks from order to delivery (in Connecticut).

My order was in the same state as yours for about a week. When it was scheduled...the 800 number said it would be done in two weeks. It was done in just over a week.

They seem to have their act together (with a few exceptions.)

Give them a little time. Don't be like me and call the 800 number 2-3 times a day.

First, that's the correct number.

Second, I believe the description you gave means your order is in "Status 111." When the factory puts it on the production schedule, you will switch to Status 112 (at which point you can no longer make any changes). If you search (here and elsewhere on the web) you will find complete lists of the order status codes.

Did you speak to a live customer service rep or just get the automated report? I've found the reps to be very helpful, and they can check for you to see if any option on your order is cause for a delay.

I placed my order on 2/20. It went to 112 on 3/29, just over 5 weeks later. It's supposed to be completed on 3/13, a week from tomorrow, which will make it a few days over 7 weeks from order to built; but I had two "April options" in mine, so I expect that held it up a bit; in fact I was surprised it went into production while it was still March.

Good luck, take a deep breath, and enjoy the process!

I did both, got the automated update then talked to a rep because I wasn't sure what that status meant... I think time from order to delivery depends also on your dealer. Mine had a car already ordered that they modified, so I ordered it just a week before April, but they were able to get me in April production. Just wasn't sure what it meant that the order was only "accepted." I would have thought there was a set date for when it was going to go into production.

I've ordered 2 other cars before, but wasn't able to track it as well as you can now, just waited to hear from my salesman when the car came in.

Mine was done the same way. I was told that after modifying a car they already had on order and an owner is assigned it is given priority. I have noticed this the 3 times I ordered an X5 configuration and changed my mind. ie, I was given an April 10 production but it was built by April 3rd. Now I am waiting....

I just registered a logon for BMW Owner's Circle, pretty cool to be able to track it online.. https://oc.bmwusa.com/ (not that you should expect any less this day and age... but I wasn't able to do that on the 3-series I ordered in '99 or the A4 I ordered in '02...).

So great, now I'll probably check the status of my X5 about a dozen times a day. Careful what you wish for, I guess.

I hesitate to even say this, but...

I found the OC website to be slow in terms of displaying the current status; and it doesn't give you very much information. Better to call the 800 # and speak with a live body; they can tell you exactly what the status of your order is. If you ask, they will tell you the order status code so you can see what stage in the build process it's at.

I called today and discovered that my X5 finished production yesterday (4/9), when as of last Friday it was scheduled to be completed at the end of this week (4/13). They're ahead of schedule.

Same here. It said it was scheduled for production on the website the whole time. Using the phone I was getting, whether it was assembled, painted, released to the carrier etc.

Agreed. The website SUCKS! It was even showing it was in the Prep center awaiting for shipment to my dealer and they called me that the car was in. It continued to show that the car was at the final center for another week while I was DRIVING THE CAR!
