Performance Center Delivery process

Anyone who has been through the PCD process recently, I could use some advice. I ordered my X5 in February and requested PCD at that time. My CA had never even heard of it and had to check with the sales manager to learn that it was possible (I should have taken the hint!). I've asked several times if there was any news on setting a schedule for a delivery date, since I need to make plans to be away for a few days.

A couple of weeks ago my CA left a stack of forms (7, I think) for me to fill out, which I did. I still haven't heard anything further about scheduling, and my X5 was completed and "released to the carrier" two days ago. I've called the 800 # but the reps there don't have any info on PCD.

Should I be worried? What kind of lead time should I expect? Will the PC people contact me directly to negotiate a date?

You may be SOL. Sounds like your X may be in route to the dealer. On the X5, there is no carrier for PCD since they are manufactured in the same location.

I hope I'm wrong for your sake.

According to the rep I spoke with on Monday, it's clearly in the computer that I'm waiting on PCD. I asked about the "released to carrier" status, also inquired how the vehicles were transferred from the factory to the Performance Center, but he couldn't answer either question.

According to the BMW USA site,
Quote:
The BMW Performance Center neighbors the BMW Manufacturing Plant located in Spartanburg, SC. Despite the close proximity of the two facilities the BMW Performance Center is operated by BMW of North America, LLC (BMWNA).
That doesn't make it clear if the two facilities are actually on contiguous property. So I'm thinking that the vehicles need to be moved by truck from factory to PC even if it's a very short distance, since they're not registered or insured for operation on a public highway. Hopefully someone who's been there can clear this up!

please contact Danielle Swain who schedules PCD at the Spartanburg facility ([email protected]). She was excellent when my dealership screwed mine up, but she handled everything perfectly.
