stains on running boards?
shortly after receiving our new x5, wife and i noticed what i thought was condensation on the metallic finish of the running boards. turns out there is a stain, looks like maybe soap or wax splash, that may have happened after she visited local hi-end car wash. our selling dlr takes their cars there too, and i have gone there for years with good cars, and no probs. i didnt want to touch it so we brought the X back and dealer tried cleaning it off (maybe uased Klasse or similar, idk) but now its back. any ideas? this seems stupid. thanks , j. |

This happened to me within the first week after taking delivery. I took my 3.0si to a local car wash and noticed the condensation the next day. I suspect this was caused by the chemicals that were used. My running board was replaced at no costs. This problem has been reported by others in the past. Your dealer should be able to replace it at no cost.

I have the same problem. They were fine with my zaino washes but when dealer did a clean, they got some tire cleaner overspray on the boards and could not get it off. Looks like white oxidized marks.
