3.0si vs 4.8i
Btw, is the 3.0 bi-turbo going to be available for the 2008 X5? It would be great if is true. Last edited by xdrive; 04-29-2007 at 03:29 AM. |

i have 3.0, but never drove 4.8..just finished first long 200-300 miles of weekend trip withe X. i got this truck for the wife knowing she wont need the V8.
the 3.0 seems to have plenty of pep for daily use. she revs up a bit noisily in low speed accel, but very sharp in the 60-90mph range. keep it in sport or full manual. i 've had a few other hi end v8 cars (a8, s8, e500) and have found that i dont use the manual mode at all with the bigger engines, fwiw.. cant speak for any handling issues. try em both. |

The difference in power, especially low rpm grunt, is substantial. But this isn't a decision someone can make for you--as others have said you should drive them both. The six isn't weak, so it could well be the best choice for you.
