Smile Got my new X5 3.0d Its amazing, few disapointments

The 3.0d drives like a dream and has so much power. Previously had the 2002 X5 3.0d. The drive power, road handling is far superior to the old one. I think the build quality seems to be not as good even though there are obviously far improved features.

Few disapointments:

1.I was not given the Nav DVD for South Africa, they are only arriving next week.

2.The inside of the back wheel arch is made of a very odd material and looks as though it may be difficult to keep clean. It is not a smooth plastic like in the front. Are all models like this?

3.I cannot exit from the assist window in the display even though I folowed the manual instructions to click the control where it says exit assist window. It just stays there with nothing in it.

4.There is no charger plug under the aux input , is this because I have the blue tooth phone preperation option? It is not so nice to have a Ipod charger cable going to the cigerette lighter. Any suggestions

I drive is taking me time but getting there.

Otherwise it really is a great driving machine

Space Grey 3.0d

Congrats on the new car. On point 4, the 12v socket in the storage area comes only with the storage compartment pack option code 493

That's a pretty small list of complaints! Stick with the iDrive once you et used to it it works very well. Don't get put off by all the rubbish that journalists right about it having spent a couple of hours in a car. I'd love to see some pics of your car as I am looing at ordering Space Grey with a Black Interior...and the panoramic roof.

Will post pics shortly. All you guys thinking of ordering note that the Xenon lights absolutly superb. Comfort access is also fun and the adaptive drive superb. The reverse camera I am not so sure of. I regret not getting comfort seats but the standard ones are just fine.

Xenon lights are a must. I've had them on my last three cars. My current car a 535d has the adaptive headlights but I don't think they are worth the money (they came as part of the Visibility Package).

Thats interesting regarding the charger socket... I am getting the USB as well as bluetooth but I would expect to still have the socket in the centre console...?

isn't the iPod supposed to charge via USB? (As it does when plugged to computer)

Yep I would think so.. I am thinking more about perhaps a hard drive or other device to power out of the 12v socket... can't think of one right now though !!!
