E70, Backup Camera Issue After Software Upgrade

I am having a more frequent Backup camera problem after my software was upgraded to 25.1.2. The screen went blank when I put the car in Reverse. A screen appears showing the Camera Display is Off when I pressed the I-Drive. Anybody seen this issue?

My backup cam is screwed up, too. I have it set off, but every so often I turn it on, and I either get a blank screen, a camera logo in the display, or a weird looking screen, with messed colors. I haven't done the update yet, b/c the parking sensors work flawlessly, so no need to get cam fixed.

Thanks for your update. I wonder if anybody else is having Backup Camera issue. It is really more of an annoyance than a real big problem because it sometimes work. Although, the issue is more pronounced now that I got the software upgraded.

Why is the backup camera COMPLETELY useless at night? And why can't the system be set up to show both the parking display and the camera? Because of these two issues the camera is a complete waste and the parking display a faaar better option.

I agree, in my wifes Lexus the camera is at least twice the resolution and works great off the reverse lights in the pitch black. I am thinking of swapping the cameras (they look almost identical) and see if it is the camera that is the problem. The lexus also has the car image and park sensor response showing in the corner of the camera screen. This should be a simple fix for BMW to do similar seeing that there is a split screen to start with.

You can have the PDC and the Camera show both at the same time. It depends on how you set them up. This is the setting I am using. I agree that the Backup Camera is pretty much useless in a pitch black night.

You can not have the PDC graphic screen and the camera at the same time.

Please refer to this link http://www.xoutpost.com/pdf/e70/05c2_...w%20Camera.pdf which will show you both the PDC and the Camera on at the same time. You may lso refer to pages 81-83 of the manual for detail setup instructions.
