First of all a small reminder concerning the configuration of my X5 E70 ordered on March 1st, 2007 and delivered June 8th, 2007 is 13 weeks of delay:
X5 E70 3.0d 235cv Luxe Package Technology Package Sport Package Premium Sound Package CD Changer 20" Y-Spoke Alloy Wheels Inserts polite aluminium Aluminum stepladders Backup Camera Titaniuml Front Grill I have already had the occasion to cross more than 400 kilometres. Here is thus a summary of my first impressions and some photos. ENGINE This engine is really brilliant: nervousness, flexibility and a frank answer to the acceleration. It is for me, the BEST 6 roll diesel of the market (I had the occasion of tried each of his competitors: ML, Q7, TUAREG or Range SPORT). In spite of the weight of the machine, it grows frankly. The couple (reminder: 520 Nm), is constantly available between 2.000 and 2.750 tours / minute and gets an impressive flexibility. The power increased although that eased by the weighty taking of E70 gives all the same to the arrival the impression that it is quicker than E53. The new Steptronic 6 reports and its new control lever is also successful: lively, intelligent, she outstrips her competitors (notably that of the ML) and is faster than that of E53. The association engine / Steptronic is really completed … as much more than X5 is rather sober and that the consumption is in decline with regard to E53. (And much lower than that of one Range Sport, of a Tuareg or a Q7). STYLE The E70 exceeds sharply the dimensions of E53 but it has all the same a more sports and more elegant style, to my opinion, due to its reduced overhangs in front and behind, its lengthened footing and the more aggressive front. Road behaviour E53 was already very effective on road (even more with the Pack Sport): E70 is it even more by improving more the connections on the ground. The road holding is effective extreme reactionary (for a SUV) and matched by a beautiful suppleness. Having had several sportscar (Porsche and Audi S), do not dream all the same: you should not compare E70 with a coupé 335i! (It's the same for one Cayenne whoever well PORSCHE remains a SUV and no one 997!) The consequent weight, the size and the height make that E70 remains to my opinion understeering on small road and tight bends. But even there, this E70 is much superior to the fact than the competition (Cayenne included) can offer. The direction (without adaptive Drive) is completed for me: substantial (it can maybe it appear as too much in operation for certain persons) and very well calibrated in driving. The braking, it is both at the top at the level power and progressiveness (what is not the key point of the BMW generally!) Comfort I do not find my E70 equipped with the Pack Sport and put shoes by 20 " wheels than was it my E53 equipped with the Pack Sport and put shoes by 19 "! I find it even more comfortable. For me, nothing to criticize even there and I find that E70 also progresses in this domain. Seats sport are very ergonomic and support well the body. For all the rest, we meet ourselves well in full universe BMW: a remarkable sound damping, an excellent ergonomics (even if i Drive - seems simplified with regard to before - require a small period of adaptation) and an excellent finish which progresses with regard to E53 and which is at the level of the leader of the category on the subject, the Q7 and indeed above Range Sport, ML or Cayenne. Concerning the habitability, it seems to me a little more important. If in front, the quotations seem rather close to those of E53, behind, the gains are more blatant. The chest offers a more important storage space. Normal be seen the increase of the little visible size of outside but what we perceive well in the steering wheel. As for the sound system, the Pack Hi Fi (digital amplifier 205W and 12 HP) is widely sufficient! I abandon also quite idea of addition of a system of connection of one I Pod or of a reader MP3 because the moneychanger 6 CD reads CD engraved and filled up with MP3. The rear camera is a nice and very useful gadget during operations. Conclusion I am really very satisfied with this new E70. It is an evolution of E53 to which it brings improvements in all the domains without exception. The performances are widely sufficient for a professional and family daily usage and already allow to please Motorization, performance, road behavior, finish are really excellent!

I can't wait for the diesel models to arrive in the U.S. It is suppose to be on sale for next year. I think you typed in your review in french and had it translated into english. For the most part, it was quite understandable. Congratulations on your new X5 and enjoy it.
