What kind of brakes we have on our car ?

Anybody have more technical info on the brakes we got with our E70s. Who is the manufacturer, how they work etc. I haven't found any information on this topic.

big ones that work great!!

sorry, dont have the answer, but I learned the hard way that they work great...slammed on the brakes at about 50mph and the X came to an immediate stop, no sway, not skid, no nothing, just stopped instantly. I was very impressed.

I dunno, probably the same great ones that BMW puts on their other cars..........

I always thought it was funny how cars like Nissan and Acura tout "Brembo brakes" as optional or standard equipment. To me, that just says the engineers couldn't come up with something good to begin with. My X3 can stop shorter than an Acura TL with "Brembo brakes"

I agree with both of you. One of the deciding factors to buy this car was its braking. I thought that brakes in MDX, XC90 and Q7 were inferior compared to X5. Cayene had good ones too. I was just wondering if X5 brakes are some (improved maybe) version of Brembos or does BMW make their own.

Agree!
First day while "playing" with the IDrive a car stopped in front of me I was going about 45-50. Slammed the brakes and came a hair away from plowing him. I would have hit that car in my TL. Great braking power.

if they look like the e53 brakes (which i think they do), they are ATE single piston calipers with Textar/Jurid pads...
