Just curious; These people who told you to wait for the 2008 models, what information did they use to convince you that you would get a better deal?  It just may be that they will cost a lot more in 2008. 
This is a decision only you can make. You negotiate what you pay for vehicles regardless of the year so asking others what to do with the limited information you provided IMHO makes no sense.
