Virgin no more

So after 2 months after buying a black saph 07 3.0, the car is going back to the dealership for work. About a week ago, the brilliant idrive system craps out on me. All it does is show the grey BMW screen. It sits on this screen for about 3 minutes then it looks like it tries to reboot itself. At least the car still runs. Has anyone had this problem?

I hope this isn't a sign of whats to come (knocks on wood).

So just wanted to give an update. the dealership couldnt figure out why the idrive thing wont work. They ordered a main gateway module or CCC module and want to replace it. Has anyone ever heard of this part or know what it does? Looks like it will be at least a week before i get the car home.

Why leave it there? You can still drive it minus IDrive?
Or, maybe not...

Welcome to the club, and consider yourself a full fledged member. Weather it's a sign of whats to come or not don't let it frazzle ya. That's what the warranty is for. Just get an explination in writting for all the emergency room visits. I have found that the first line of defense is the paperwork. Get em to put everything in writing. That way there's a paper trail if things go bonkers

New Update: So I get a call last Thursday the 5th saying that the CCC has arrived and is installed. The idrive works but it is really slow. They were still trying to find out what is causing the problem. Get another call Saturday and they tell me that the new CCC that they put in got burnt out just like the original. They have to order another one which will cost them another $4K in parts; or so they tell me. So now back to the waiting game. Part should be in today and we will see what happens next.

I am in CA. I have been told that if the dealership tries to fix the same problem 3 times and fails, the car qualifies as a lemon under CA law. Can anyone comment on this?

PS. dont mind not having the car as they gave me a loaner for the past 2 weeks.

In CA if the dealership tries to fix the same problems 3 times and fails, the dealership MUST replace the whole car.
