Clear the memory on your garage door opener before turning in a lease.

This is very important, to those who are turning in their lease.

A friend of mine turned in a lease on his BMW several months ago and did not clear the memory on the built in garage door opener. For some reason, the new owner who bought the car was able to get a hold of his home address, went to his house and cleaned out the garage. It's a good thing the door to the main house was bolted and they were not able to get in the house. The perps were caught a few days later since one of the neighbors knew that the car was already turned in, noticed the old car in the garage and reported to the police (sometimes it's nice to have nosy neighbors). All the stolen items were recovered including a 20K Harley.

My friend thinks an old vehicle registration must have been stuck in the car somewhere explaining why the perps found the previous owner.

I'm getting ready to turn in my E53 to make room for the E70 in about a week and I just cleared the memory by pressing the 2 outer buttons on the remote for 20 secs until the light blinks.
