In a continuing quest to scout out relevant info prior to purchase of a gas vs diesel model, I don't seem to be able to locate real details on the 2007 3.0d model of the X5. These are not sold in the U.S. but expected in the 2008 MY. Can someone point me to a page/website for such info or otherwise post some relevant specs for this outside-the-US model? Most helpful would be weights, acceleration/torque info, 0-60 (mph) times, and fuel consumption (mpg). If such info is only available in metric values, please post anyway. Many thanks.

You can browse the UK (www.bmw.co.uk), Irish (www.bmw.ie) and Austrailian (www.bmw.com.au) sites where BMW sells diesel and which have websites in english.
I would not be sure if the performance figures would be the same in the US as I imagine that performance is dependant on the grade of diesel. I would also add that driving a diesel is very different to a petrol, diesel engines have much more torque at lower revs, but the revs max out at about 4500 ~ 5000. I drive a diesel E90 and I love it. The power is great, and I get about 44 MPG according to the computer. |

Many thanks. This is just what I was looking for. But I was surprised to see the time posted for the 0-60 mph. This is actually LESS than the value listed for the 3.0si model (unless real world conditions somehow differently affect the 3.0 si and d model values in favor of the diesel)?????

Quote:
The twin turbo diesel has a quoted 0-60 of 7 secs and the 4.8i 0-60 of 6.5 secs, for all other incriments the diesel will be quicker i.e. 30-50 because of all the torque. |
