Question ordered new X5 4.8 (want XM radio) help

HI there,

I ordered a new X5 4.8

Can't wait.

But instead of Sirius -- I want to put XM in it.

Can anyone give me advice where to go ?

Really appreciate it.

I have had XM through headunit with full control on my e46 with blitz adapter, I dont think new X5 is capable to accept blitz but who knows, maybe they will design something, but I wouldnt hold my breath.
You can use one of those portable devices and use an AUX port, choose the one that would work for you best.
Also consider the likely merge between two

I installed my XM myself, just put the Roady XT in the ash tray routed the wires around to the passenger door so you couldn't see them. Then I took it around where the front window pillar and the hood meet, then took the wire all the way up underneath the rubber sill up to the roof.

Takes about 20 minutes to do, plus its cheaper than having someone else do it for you. This was the best possible option I could find, better than clipping it to the air vent.

some people prefer the channel lineup.
others care for howard stern while I liked his competitors O and A although some topics make you sick, but you still have hard time turning it off.

I don't necessarily think one is better than the other, but after having XM for a few years (on a leased Audi A8L and still have it on the Lexus, though lease ending in April and will have Sirius on the X5) and now have Sirius in my E63, I prefer the programming on Sirius in the genre I listen to the most: retro, '80s and '90s alternatives; and trance/electronica.

I do miss the NHL programming on XM though...

oh kinda was what I was thinking just preference. I had xm in my hummer and now Sirius in the BMw's and I prefered the sirius, I was just wondering if I missed something that made the xm better.

The Sirius service (from a coverage point of view) isn't nearly as good in Los Angeles as XM's. There are numerous discussions on this in Sirius's discussion groups. Their satellites have an Eastern focus, and they have fewer ground repeaters in the West.

I have both XM and Sirius. Where my XM rarely cuts out, the Sirius does often. (Not for long periods of time, but it's noticable.)
