4.8i or 3.0si

Which do you own or have you ordered? Why?

I'd def pick the 4.8i over the 3.0si. You can do a search for the rather lengthy debate, but I drove the 4.8i at the Ultimate Driving event and felt it's really the best way to go. The acceleration felt appropriate and adaquate for a mid $50k luxury vehicle. If I couldn't afford the 4.8i, I'd likely go for an X3, which has the same 3.0si version and engine but is half a ton lighter.

I'd do a 3.0 if I were buying one.

Brilliant.......IMO this is the best X5 to get. Combo of low fuel consumption, good torque, and supposedly slotted between the 3.0si petrol and 4.8i.

But don't have that model.............yet

I'll be curious to see sales, if and when a diesel makes its way to the US.

i have the 3.0 i don't feel the need for speed when driving a SUV...if you want to go fast, buy a sports car. also i wouldn't like to donate my money to OPEC.

3.0 is just fine....I have all the power I need.

except that time a Toyota Pickup beat me from a red light to a lane reduction...that was embarrassing.

4.8 is what I have. No real just because you have an SUV not to enjoy some power also. Gas costs but you already spent a few $$ and are using prem anyway. Othewise I would just get a hybrid.

4.8i here. Drove the 3.0, but seemed like it was working too hard under my normal driving habits/speeds, and the sound of that 4.8 when it fires up is very rewarding. The 3.0TT gas would have also been a consideration to at least see if the power was sufficent had it been available, but since it was not, the 4.8i was the way to go without a doubt.
