Parking Break Malfunction

On 08/23/07 it happened again. The first time was just prior to 06/15/07.

On each occurrence it happened in the same exact location. I backed into my garage, hit park, and applied the parking break.

As soon at the parking break activated I heard the chime and same the yellow indicator in the dash. PARKING BREAK MALFUNCTION!

No matter what... you cannot drive the car away unless you first pull the emergency release cable in the rear of the vehicle with the orange handle provided. The bad part is that my vehicle hatch cannot be opened when I back up to the garage wall. Had to climb into the back!!

I suggest everyone locate the cable so you know where it is located. Once you pull it... only the dealer can reset it. Last time they had to replace some module to fix the problem.

Point of interest... you have to pull slow and hard until you hear the cluck sound. The vehicle will kinda roll a little too so you know you did it.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Haven't had the problem...yet. Good suggestion to locate the cable before you need it on a dark night.
