seat belt buckles marring tobacco interior

hi all,
after several months of ownership, in addition to the known running board stain issue, we just noticed a problem where both front seat belts, when retracted, hit the interior of the b-pillar, which now have about 100 little dings and scuff marks where the seat belt buckle hits the hard surround on the b-pillar next to the seatbacks. this has not been an issue in any of the other cars we have owned over the years.
seeing bmw rep next week, anyone else have this issue?
i will try to upload a pic tonite also.

thanks..

We have the exact same issue. Sand beige interior rather than tobacco, but experiencing exactly what you describe. Our X5 is 4 months old.

Same problem here

I'm calling it an unfortunate design oversight

I wonder if they'll replace the b-pillar panels under warranty???

For what its worth the same problem is in the E53 - just surprised it wasn't fixed for the E70

well, i'm also calling it a defect in materials resulting in abnormal wear and tear, and i will be looking for a replacement part, and i don't care if it happened on X53s either.

i hope you are being facetious.
you sound like my service advisor. after thirty years of driving i dont need a primer on how to unbuckle my seatbelt.
the car and materials should be able to withstand normal activity without damage. period.

I said that cause I will assume that is what BMW is going to say.
It was a joke.
Yes, when it happens to mine I will be pissed as well.

oh i definitely wasnt aiming that at you...

the SA says 'be careful with the belts, like i am'
me: 'oh you have an X5?'
SA: 'no i drive a benz.'
me: 'maybe i should too.'

trouble is same guys own both dealerships anyway..
