Order Date Discrepancy

Hello all,

I just have a basic question that has been bugging me lately, hopefully some light can be shed on the situation. I ordered my 4.8 X5 at the end of week 26 (early July), I was quoted that the vehicle would be here within 4 weeks (end of july, or about week 31. My vehicle still has not arrived, and is being shipped. I have been without a vehicle for a little over a month, and so I called the BMW service number to ask a few questions. At first they would not give me the confirmed order date, and simply told me to ask my dealer, which continued to say it was ordered on week 26/or beg. of week 27. Now that the vehicle is on it's way to the dealership, BMW 800# has told me that the order was made on week 30, requested production for week 33, and confirmed production for week 35. Am I missing something? Could the dealer actually have put in the order on week 26/27 and it not have been confirmed for another 3 weeks, or are my suspicions correct that the dealer gave my spot away to someone else, and put me on the next list 3 weeks later?

One detail that might help with the story. I made a passing comment that I might be out of town the last week of July, but was unsure when we were negotiating. I am wondering if my Sales Rep took this as a cue that I was going to be gone when the car would get here, and he could bump me back 3 weeks with no harm.

Questions, comments, etc. are welcome as I would like to have some info before I complain/discuss with the dealership.

I would always go with the order date that BMWusa gave you. In my case personally, as soon as I received my production order number, I called the BMW 800 number and the order date that they gave me matched with what my dealer told me. The discrepancy should not be any more than a week, in my opinion.
