Torn between 2007 and 2008 X5

Alright here's my conundrum:

I want to get a midsize SUV for my mom. I like the RX, but it's been the same design for like 18 years and it's getting updated for 09 anyways. The X5 is great because it'll be around for 3-4 more years. BUT--I feel the value isn't there with my budget at 50k.

1. I want to get an X5 with tech (nav, backup camera, parking sensors)+ BMW assist (great feature IMO) + running boards (mom's a bit short)... MSRP=

2. No dealerships have this option set in their X5s. I think the premium package in the X5 is very overpriced for what it offers (nothing of use in my book)

Is there anyway you think I'd be better off ordering an 08 or sticking with an inflated 07. Also, I DO NOT WANT THE 3rd seat. budget is 50k...

WHAT SHOULD I DO?

if you are trying to save money... try making a deal on an 07.

order an X5 with just the options you want, put down a deposit. You can negotiate when it comes.
good luck!

There should still be some 07's left in dealer lots. If you're only looking for tech package and running boards, that should get you close to 50K. You can get the 07's for at least 3K off the MSRP. Contact a broker, like fleetrates.com and they can find you any car with any options anywhere in the country.

If they're still taking orders for 07's, place an order. My dealer did not even require a deposit. Negotiate like crazy and you'll get the price that you want. I priced your E70 with the options that you need (BMW assist, tech package, running boards & leather) and it only came up to $51K. Get it for 3K below MSRP and that will put you at 48K

Not advisable to get an 08 since you don't really care about new options and you're working within a budget. Can't do much negotiating with 08's. Good luck.

you certainly can still negotiate with 08's.... dealers are definitely giving discounts on them... especially since there are very few new options (if any really) from the 07's.

I was EASILY able to negotiate 2k off sticker by calling 3 dealerships on an ordered 08. This is phone negotiation now...

get the 08!!! for many reasons...one, they're still flexible in pricing...(I have an 08 ordered with same options and price as 07) and two, the 08s will come prepped with the latest firmware revisions to help address a lot of the known software/bug issues...

and finally at the end of the day you'll have an 08 which will be worth a little more than an 07 if you plan to trade and/or sell her later on....
