Soft Close on Tailgate of 2007

I just picked up my 4.8 this past Friday, and noticed it had the "soft close" or sucking in of the upper tailgate when you close it. Not to be mistaken by power tailgate by any means, I was just curious if all 2007's had this feature, or its just the later 07's before the 08's arrive. Seems weird to put this on the tailgate, and not on all of the doors. Wish it was on the doors as well.

This is standard on all 07 X5s, this feature was on the facelifted E53 as well. It's main reason on the E53 was to eliminate certain issues around rattles.

Well they they not do a good job. Mine still rattles.

Mine is super tight. There must be a way to snug it up to eliminate the rattle.

i think its only on the 4.8, not the 3.0

Mine's a 3.0

I have had the soft close mechanism replaced. Still rattles.

It's on my 2004 E53. The upper tail gate will get sucked shut just by pressing it. My 10 year old duaghter has the habit of slamming it and I have to remind her every day to just press it. Kids.

So I guess it would be nice to have those power rear lift gates after all.
