Just buy the diesel. The hybrid isn't all that it's cracked up to be. It only gives you better mileage below 40 MPH.

Two dealers have told me the diesel will be out in March 08. The VW has had it's share of problems. I don't know about the V10 diesel. I'm waiting for the twin turbo diesel X5. If you want a hybrid, you can buy the Lexus RX 400 H. It doesn't get much better mileage than the RX 350 and would take you years just to break even on fuel if you purchased the 400H.

i'm not wanting the hybrid to save money... i want it to help the environment and our dependency on oil. i don't care if it costs more.

bmw is behind in this game...

In Los Angeles, that's about 60-70% of the time during peak traffic hours. Also, hybrids are cleaner burning over a like distance.

Isn't the Cayenne hybrid supposed to be electric all the way to 75mph?

hybrid...

Keep it classy, BMW, leave the fads to Toyota.
Honestly, Hybrids are going to do the environment in. Does anyone remember the story about the mine they get the NiMH from? People (I) buy BMW's for the exhaust note, not the electric whine that gets you and extra 2 MPG.

Diesel... good; Hydrogen... Better
