High beam assist

How come Canadian x5s dont come with high beam assist? Do the US models come with it?

Not sure about North America, but it is a costed option in the UK.

In Canada, we only have packages of options, and I got all of the different packages but the handling package (active steering, adaptive drive) and I don't seem to have it. (I try to test it by leaving the high beam on while driving and all I got was some mad flashes and stares from the on coming traffic)

No BMWs shipped to North America can be ordered with High Beam Assistant. I know, such a pity isnt it? It's one of those options I wish we could tick off.

What does it do? Auto-on high beams?

Detects oncoming traffic and switches automaticaly between high and low. (with high beams on)
Great for the back roads, I wish I had it.

Doesn't the Jeep Grand Cherokee do that?

Thanks for all the replies! None in North America? that is a pity; so much of driving is done on secondary highways in N.A though IMHO, i really wish I had it. Does anyone know the reason why they can't provide us with the option?

now available on new US 6er (for $250)

probably wait for 09

i'm guessing it's because there's always other cars, especially in the US where cars are aplenty
