Aftermarket Wheels....Please Help....
I am interested in purchasing some aftermarket wheels for my upcoming 2008 X5, but before I do I wanted to find out if anyone had any problems with sensors? I was notified that there are sensors in the wheels that monitor the air. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance! |

hey golfer4life,
thanks for the reply, where did you purchase the sensors, where they installed on the aftermarket wheels for you upon purchase? or did you have to install them yourself? where did you purchase your wheels? i plan on purchasing the wheels from superbuytires. thanks again and by the way nice ride. |

Thanks. The wheels on the pic are my factory 19". I'm shopping around for a basic OEM 20" and keeping my factory wheels. There's a place here in SoCal (San Fernando Valley) where I'm thinking of buying the wheels and sensors called Wesco tires that works with the local BMW dealers. They will do all installs including the sensors.

What are the sensors for?
Are they for the tyre pressure guage? I thought the tyre pressure guage were part of the ABS system, which I imagine would not be part of the alloy wheel itself. Also, how could you connect a sensor to a moving part like an alloy wheel? Quote:

Hey jayo,
The sensors are mounted on the alloy wheel and that is the reason for the metal valve stem, it is supposedly mounted behind the stem or connected, I have never seen it myself. My guess is that information is transmitted via wireless. Golfer4life: thanks for the info, I'm going to give them a call tomorrow. Thanks! |
