so is it safe to put on 20" on a 3.0 w/o sport package? will the transmission

work harder? since the 3.0 w/o sport is comes with 19' and not 20" as an option... is weight or height an issue? what about 21"

Thr 20's will be heavier. The height should be the same (make sure they are the same circumference). Make sure the offset is correct since the 20's and 21's will be staggered. Other than that you should be good. You will get lots of kicking up of gravel debris since the tires are wider and will extend pass the fenders. You may want to consider the wider fender flares.

Mine are not past the fender flares but flush with them, so the wider flares are more of a personal preference thing. I am not the fence about getting them myself. The 20's are the same overall diameter, so the only real issue if you are getting OEM wheels is the weight as mentioned previously. It will make the truck feel slower with the 3.0 especially.

I went with the 20" and the rear ones stick out on my 3.0... it doesnt look bad, I'm probably going with the wider flares anyway.

Are the fender flares a DIY project and if so, anyone have a price?

I got a quote of $43.00 for each rear and $70.00 for each front flare IIRC.
