I have the A/S Pirelli Scorpions on my current SUV and they are great. I can only imagine the A/T ones. The only negative for my Scorpions is that they supposedly wear faster, but it looks like the new ATRs are the highest rated on tirerack.

What should I drop it on for Russian winter, 17"s or 18"s?

I run 18's and I can go pretty much anywhere. Your winters are going to be worse than mine, but I go skiing at 4000-5000 feet with up to a foot of snow and have no problems at all. With 18's, it doesn't look at pathetic as it does with 17's. Good luck whatever you choose.
