Angry ipod adapter problem-need help

hey folks-I posted this in the Lounge but got not replies. I figure I might have more luck here. I hope I am not violating protocol

Last week I bought an X5 4.81 with a factory installed IPOD adapter. It doesn't work. After a minute or so of plaing the song the entertainment mode cuts out to the radio

I called the service deptarment and they say that they have seen this problem before-it has to do with sbmw software vers 27.1 ?? They say that it with take 2-6 hours to do the diagnostics necessary to fix the problem.

Has anyone had any experience with this. What the hell is going on. To me this all should have been checked out before the car left the lot.

Is this fixable??? Am I going to have tto buy an after market devcie.

Als, the tech told me that having an ipod adapter precludes the use of a 6 cd changer which is ok. But he also told me it is impossible to operate the new ipod adapter in a shuffle song. Which used to be possible with previous verions. What the hell is going on. I wrote BMWUSA and can't seem to get a clear answer fro anyone.

I couldn't get a service appointment until 10/31 and I want to get this fixed before them

BTW I have a new I pod 160 gb with nearly 25,000 songs on it, I am a music junkie so this is a BIG problem

will someone take the time ti help please

chris

If I remember correctly, I have seen somewhere that the newest iPod was not compatible with the current BMW firmware and there was a promise from BMW to fix it soon. Try to browsing forums here, maybe you find it.

It's a known problem, version 27.1 will sort it out for you. The dealers are reluctant to automatically apply the software updates due to the time it takes and also sometimes fails and needs to be done again.

Chris,

I have to stop into the dealership today to get my ipod adapter fixed as well (mine came with broken pins in the USB adapter). I'll ask about your problem because perhaps I'll end up encountering the same issue.

I'll let you (and everyone) know later this evening.

Mixed results on progman 27.1 fixing the FM switching with factory installed iPod option. If that doesn't work, you'll need your MULF2 module replaced. Was a popular topic on all the BMW forums a month or two ago. Search these and other popular BMW forums for more detail. 3 series and 5 series were recalled for this problem. E70 also has it but was never recalled.

Version 27.1 fixed this problem with my X5. Now delighted with the 6FL option.
