Lightbulb Cool Hidden Features of the E70 many dont know about

I found this link below from the E53 forum while trying to figure out what the triangle with the snow flake warning lamp I got this morning was all about. Temp dropped below 3C/37F and it was just a warning telling me to watch out for road ice and kicking in the rear and side mirror defrosters. (it was also in the manual-no picture of the lamp symbol with the snow flake though)

http://www.xoutpost.com/x5-e53-forum/...dont-know.html

Found a LOT of info in that link, some I could try (had tried) out that was passed on to the E70, below some C+P from the link:

================================================== ====

Open all windows and moonroof, Hold unlock button on key fob to open windows.

Closing all windows with the key, To do this, you need to insert the key into your driver's door lock and turn and hold in the lock position.

Safety Windows, Windows have a safety feature if your hands are in the way while they're going up! The window will go back down!

Disable the motion-sensor in the X, (you know there is one there right?) by locking the car one more time once you have hit the lock button on the remote.

Panic Mode, if you press and hold for 3-5 secs on the trunk open button the alarm sounds.

Disable Interior Lights, Press the center interior light button on the overhead console, HOLD IT FOR 3+ SECONDS, and ALL interior lights will be permantely disabled until the button is again pressed

Radio with no keys, turning the radio on without using the key by pushing the radio power button. Turns off automatically after about 20 minutes.

Radio Station Scan, You can change radio station on the steering wheel by holding up/down button longer to scan to next station rather than preset ones.

Accessories, The radio, sunroof, and other "ignition" triggered accessories are available for a period of time after the car is turned off until a door is opened

Wipers Info, With the rear wiper actived and the car in reverse, the wiper will pass constantly versus the usual intermittent setting.

Wiper Info, When you have your wipers on fast and medium (don’t knowwhat you call it) Anyways if you come to a stop it'll go to intermittent

=================================================

Anybody have something new to add....

whats also cool is that lots of that stuff had been unique to bmw since at least the E34.

with comfort access you can roll up the windows by holding your finger on the lock thingy on the door handle.

Now thats a GREAT find!!!

What he means is if you have comfort access, you can roll UP all your windows by simply holding your finger on the exterior door handle. There are ridges on the door handle -the area to touch to unlock the car with CA, and this same area will allow you to roll up the windows.

I don't have comfort access but I can do this feature on my remote for my 2008 3.0d. My understanding it's a standard feature for all E70 sold in Australia.

On the key fob remote, holding the close button, locks up the car and if any windows are open, will also close them, including the sunroof.

Holding the open button, does the reverse, unlocks the car and opens all the windows. Side windows first, and if the button is kept depressed, it will also open the sunroof.

^ speaking of comfort access, how does the ambient lighting in the door handles work in that case? Shouldn't the lights be on even before touching the door handles to open the doors?
