What is Multi-Media Changer in New Sound Package?

What does the Multi-Media Changer do? I ordered the new sound package which includes this item. I know it's a DVD changer... But I don't have a DVD player. I'm hoping it will play SACD's or DVD-audio CDs... Is anybody familiar with the functions of this thing?

It will play DVD audio and other formats (mp3 etc.).

I loaded 3 gigs of MP3's onto a dvd and ripped it on my mac as a test. After popping the disc in the changer, the x5 screen immediately showed my file structure and everything played immediately. No delay in sound or in navigating the disc.
This is great because now you can load up 3 dvd's with a hell of a lot of music and still have 4 slots (front dash) open for dedicated audio like DVD-Audio and store bought cd's.

yes. I also noticed a DVD option on the idrive when I was playing my mp3 cd. I'll try and burn music on DVD and see if it will play it on my standard cd player.

as others have tested, it also shows movies on the main navigation screen when in park.

I was just as excited until I found out the price difference for the premium sound package. I didn't want it initially - and now it's $1850 for the ability to play DVDs on the nav screen. I hope you did want that improved sound system that bad too.

It's hard to justify the extra cost...think about it..

you get to watch DVD movies on an 8inch screen while in park!! (when is that practical?? in the mall parking lot while you wait for your wife to finish her shopping??)

and you get a DVD changer which is getting pretty outdated since now everyone has an IPOD capable of storing thousands of songs for just a few hundred bucks!!

i have one, my wife has one, and my kid has one...

again, unless the sound quality is truly significant over the stock system (and i mean like night and day) then maybe....
