Calling E70 owners

Are the rest of you as happy as I am? Just under 4000 miles on the odo and I'm amazed each and every time I drive her. She's gotten better or she's adjusted to my driving style. And to think how I disliked the E70 when it first came out. I didn't want a larger vehicle. I was so sure the handling would be compromised. How wrong I was.

Good job BMW.

L,

I wish your previous X5 was the 4.8is.. I'd love to know how you would compare the 4.8i to the E53 with the same engine..

I'm bored with my 750i, it's too much work to drive. Doesn't make power the way I'd like it to even though it has a huge engine..

I can't wait to get back into an X.

Sorry I can't help you B. I've never even driven a 4.6is or 4.8is E53. She does blow away the 4.4i.

Maybe you should test drive a B7, I hear they are giving them away....B's B, it has a ring to it.

My previous X5 was an E53 4.8. Prior to that I had a 4.6 and my first X5 was a 4.4. Each of the E53s was better than the prior model with the E53 4.8 being heads and shoulders better. Overall the E70 is again a signifiant improvement over all of the E53s except for power. Because of the added weight, slightly reduced horsepower, and the lack of spirited tunng from the "M" division the E70's performance is not as good. I drive a lot on two lane back roads and the reduced quick response capability to pass slower vehicles is a drawback. I'm hopeful that the E70 X5 will be offered with the new 4.4 Turbo as it will better meet my needs. Other than that it's a great vehicle (except for the backup camera at night, what an embarassment).

It has been two weeks and 500 miles later I’m so happy that I look for excuses to drive it everywhere. I enjoy the look on other people faces as I pass by. It is a pleasure every time I get in it…. Love it.

Had mine since late November, 5K miles. Getting ready to add 4K more on a two week driving tour of the Southwest (OK, TX, NM, AZ, CO, KS.) Should be a good test for my active ventilated seats! (and everything else.)

So far it's been great. Really fun to drive, may be the best car I have ever owned.
