2008 X5 4.8is

I've noticed that some X's have badges on the side with the 's' after the 'i'. I assume this means sport. I have a 2008 X5 4.8 with the sports package, but I just have an 'i' on the badges. Was I supposed to have an 's' too?

Only the previous generation X5s (E53) have the 4.6is and 4.8is models, and they were special, higher performance models.

Could you explain why they cut "s" in the 3.0si 2008 model, like this http://accessories.bmwusa.com/Access...px?modelId=248

I would guess it is a typo.

The Si in the case of the 3.0 indicates the higher output version of that powerplant. The non- Si 3.0 is not used on the X5.

Correct. Case in point: The Z4 and the X3. In Canada, there is a X3 3.0i and X3 3.0si.
